Tanith is a vampire who feeds from men in more ways than one. Blood and sex just seem to go together and she is out for more and more. With a new man just hours after the last she hasn't even had a chance to change the bed covers. The hunger keeps her from throwing her new visitor out.

All talk, Roane keeps reminding her of her best friend Jamison. When he ties her up and blindfolds her she is overwhelmed with need and can't wait to get things going. Little does she know that she is being tricked for the second time that day and this time she has been forced to cross a line that she can't fix. Things will never be the same again for Tanith.

This is only a couple of chapters but it leaves an impression. A feisty and somewhat sultry vampire is the main character here and her hunger seems to be getting her into more and more trouble. Just from this snippet any reader can tell that this is not a stand alone, this is the third chapter in the Blood Martyr chapter book series. However it is such a good piece of work that it will make any paranormal fan who likes strong female characters rush out to get more of this series.

Hot and sexy, this is worth taking a look at, be warned though! This small taste will leave you wanting a full portion.

Tanith wasn't really in much danger but her mortal friend and witch, Jamison, manages to scare Kieran away. Tanith isn't too happy about her friend barging in to her apartment but Jamison brings news of a new vampire hunter in town. He is only after older vampires and he is worried that Tanith is a target. She isn't worried. As a vampire she is ready for anything anyone can throw at her.

Jamison is drunk and he has interrupted her feeding. Tanith goes out on the hunt again and quickly finds a new blood donor. Taking him back to her place she finds her prey to be slightly strange. He is a witch and is willing but something doesn't seem right. Is Tanith making a mistake she will regret later?

This second part in the chapter release of this novel sees Tanith making herself more known as a character. She is hard and strong, if not slightly cocky about it. Maybe this will see her having problems later on in the story. Jamison is a weak character in this installment but it seems he will be back and Kieran also promises a return.

Not as fast paced or deep as the first part of the story, these two chapters are more information based and are obviously leading the story somewhere. It is interesting to read a book part by part. It leaves a lot more to the imagination and the author has written a good story that can be nicely split to leave readers wanting more.

Tanith is a dominant vampire picking up men from clubs to satisfy her needs. She loves to have them begging after her although she knows it is only because they are human and weak. Sometimes Tanith gets fed up with the men who plead for more but she needs the blood.

Kieran, her prey for the night isn't as human as she believes. The night starts off as normal but it is soon clear that the man in her bed isn't under her spell like her previous victims. Kieran is playing with her and he has a message to deliver. He wants Tanith to know that picking up men and letting them go isn't a nice thing to do. The men she throws out when she is done with them are left crazy. A friend of his was one of her past conquests and he wants to know if she feels sorry for what she has done?

Fooled, the tables are turned. She is suddenly the one being dominated and the man is the one with all the control. Is she in more trouble than she can handle?

This first part in the chapter by chapter book release makes an impact. Sexy, dark and mysterious, the author has managed to start off the book by giving away just enough information for the reader to understand what is going. She has also left out enough to have people coming back for the next installment. Try the first part - any paranormal romance lover will be back for more and more.

Time for Clocks and Demons

Erotic Fantasy Anthology

Time for Clocks and Demons is a trilogy containing very different and unique stories, each one unlike the others. Oh, and did I mention they are VERY hot stories, because they are, reader be warned that this book contains very explicit sexual content, and it’s amazing sex at that! You will be burning up after this.

In the story Clockmaker, we meet the spoiled little rich brat, Claudia. Claudia is about to get a serious lesson in erotic humility by the Clockmaker. He will teach Claudia a lesson not soon forgotten. Her erotic lessons in submission to the Clockmaker will leave you breathless. In the short story called The Weekend, a husband and wife plan a trip to get away from it all. However, hubby has plans all his own for his lovely wife. His wife is going to be his willing slave, and she is going to submit to him and enjoy every strict "lesson", every one of them. This is a highly erotic tale, with stringent rules to play by, very exciting. The final story in this super hot BDSM trilogy is called Three Demon Night. In this tale you will meet a newly married couple who are about to get a wedding present they will never forget. A Djinn will whisk the couple away for a sexual romp neither will forget anytime soon. This story is full of all sorts of sexual surprises and both are left fully sated after and ready to start their married life together.

Anthony Stevens has the ability to write very different material, this book contains three very unique stories and each is totally enjoyable. I am sure that the future holds equally unique works to come from this author and his BDSM Scenes are not soon forgotten. It's highly erotic and sexually charged, containing sexual content not for the "faint of heart", it's a lesson in mastery and submission. If you are a lover of BDSM erotica, you will love this trilogy. It is extreme in some sections, beyond heated, and I highly enjoyed every second of it.

Working for a scummy boss in a sleazy bar was not all it’s cracked up to be. Aislinn could complain, but she needed the job and the money it brought. She had a past she was running from and nowhere to run to, until she met Cullen. Cullen was a werewolf not to be trifled with. Cullen is drawn to Aislinn in a way that neither one could believe was possible. When he realized that he wanted Aislinn, he knew no one could stop him from having what he wanted. Struggles within his pack and with Aislinn's past threaten their new found relationship. They realize that they are stronger together than apart and they will fight to get what they both want.

This is a wonderfully written and descriptive story. There isn’t a shortage of action in this story. The love scenes are just as nice as the action and I enjoyed every minute of it. This story shows me that supernatural or not, everyone has things to work out in their family. Most of the characters are loveable and the ones that aren’t, you love to hate. I found this story flowed very nicely. My only regret is that I want more from Cullen’s pack. There are stories there waiting to be told and I look forward to hearing more from Leighann Phoenix. I hope to read more on this pack.

Inklings Feature: Beth Mart, Creative Director and Writer

This month's INKLINGS feature is an interview with Beth Mart - Creative Director and Writer

Inklings: What's the difference in writing a television commercial versus a television sitcom?

Beth: The most obvious is that a television commercial is usually thirty or sixty seconds long.
A sitcom is thirty minutes. When writing a television commercial you still have to tell a story within that time frame. It still needs a beginning, middle and an end. And a television commercial is actually only about twenty-eight and a half seconds. You need a second and a half to fade in and out. So you need to literally know how to write in seconds and how that translates to film. Because your script will be broken down into a storyboard and each frame is timed. Writing television commercials are a true discipline. You have to be able to write in a very concise manner. No extra words at all. So you learn how to self edit. You also have many layers of people giving you revisions and you will also get back legal comments. So you need to also be able to solve problems and still have your story hold together. You are constantly solving a puzzle while trying to hold on to your integrity and vision you started out with. There are many styles of writing you do when writing a commercial. You can be writing dialogue or a monologue for a spokesperson. Sometimes you are given a big block of legal copy and you need to be able to write a story and have that legal block be part of it and still make sense. You also have to know your target. Writing to teens is very different than writing to a mom. Writing copy to sell a car is usually all image copy. A rule of thumb for me is that my copy always has to ring true and feel real. I try to touch an emotional cord whether it is through humor or a human truth. So writing a television commercial is complex and no two assignments are ever the same. You also write the television commercial alone. You collaborate with an art director about the idea and vision but you go off on your own and write it. And re-write it. A lot.

When you write for a television sitcom it is a very collaborative effort. It’s always broken down into scenes and timing but in minutes not seconds. When you write for existing characters your script has to ring true for that character, whether he or she would actually say that or do that. You have to know your characters intimately and how that character fits in with the rest of the characters. So you live with these characters and you evolve them. But you do not do this alone. You usually work with other writers who will contribute to your writing or re-write what you have written. So it’s about what is best for that character and the scene in total. Again you need a beginning, middle and end but usually there is more than one story going on within one half hour and they all need to weave together and all need to be resolved by the end of the show. Again you have to respond to many comments and revisions and again you try and hang on to your vision and integrity. As much as you can.

Inklings: Where do the creative ideas come from for TV ads?

Beth: They can actually come from anywhere. Before you start any writing you are given what is called a Creative Brief. This is a key document. It gives you the information about who your target is. Who you are Advertising for. What are the key benefits of this product. What supports these benefits and what are the mandates. These are your guidelines. You also have to know what the competition is doing so you don’t copy or sound like them. So you need to study the competition. Then you brainstorm with your partner and that would be your Art Director. You always work in a team so you have one vision. And then you start thinking about concepts for the product. You figure out where the opportunities are in the category. What hasn’t been done before and how you say it is also very important. From those concepts is when I would start writing scripts. An idea may come from the latest movie that just came out or a new song. It may come from something you’ve experienced or something someone in a focus group blurted out. Or something your partner might have said that will trigger something in you to add to that or put a twist on it. I get a lot of my ideas in the shower. I don’t know why. Again, because I’ve been doing this for so long it is also a discipline and a part of your brain that is just used to thinking this way.
It’s also knowing how to talk to your audience so they know you know them and what they would like.

Inklings: What advice do you offer writers trying to break into TV writing and writing for Hollywood?

Beth: Writers who want to write for advertising need a portfolio. Samples of work. Within your portfolio you can have actual ads you’ve created for a client or concepts. This is your introduction to show people how you think conceptually and how you write. Again, advertising thinking is a very different beast. I like looking at portfolios that either makes me say, "I wish I wrote that", Or makes me think differently about a product. I’d rather see a portfolio that has a range of ideas because I can work with this person and reel them in if they have gone too far versus someone who has a portfolio that has a limited style or vision. Because I don’t know if this person has range. Or can be pushed.
You need to show that you can write for television, print and internet. If you have a specialty like Pharmaceutical experience that should also be part of your portfolio. When I started you actually carried your portfolio around with paper and film examples of your work. Today everyone wants to see your work on your website. But if you are just starting out I would say a portfolio you can carry is fine.

Writing for Hollywood is very different. Again you need samples of your work. Usually full scripts you have written. And if you want to write for Seinfeld you need to show a script that wasn’t for Seinfeld. They don’t want you to solicit their show with ideas, that’s why they have teams of writers. So you may show a Two and a Half Men concept script you wrote.
I went through an agent that was able to send my script around. Hollywood is a very hard nut to crack when you are first starting off. You need to be able to hang in there because everyone wants to write on a sit-com and a lot of the writers do come from other shows they have written on. Another way to break in is to have a unique idea for a show and try to pitch it to a network. Try and show them something they haven’t seen before. Sit-com writers are also part of the Writers Guild union. So you can also try and make connections through the union as well.

About Beth Mart: Creative Director-Writer

Beth has been at DDB NY since July, 2006 and has been working on many Pharma Accounts as well as New Business.

Prior to DDB, Beth was at Grey Worldwide for three years and worked on the Slim-Fast account as well as Olive Garden. I guess you can say Beth likes a challenge. Throughout her 20 plus yr career, she is known for a real, honest and humorous approach to advertising.

Beth spent 7 years at the UniWorld Group as Creative Director on Ford, launching the New Focus in 2000 along with creating breakthrough advertising for the Explorer, Expedition, T-Bird and Mustang and Burger King Accounts. The advertising campaigns were specifically targeted to the African American market. Many of the campaigns were so successful they became the General Market’s campaigns as well.

Her career began at Benton & Bowles and then DMB&B. There she worked on everything from Procter & Gamble; Crest, Fixodent, Charmin, Dash, Pampers, Dawn, Scope to General Foods Cool Whip and Brim. She also had some experience on the Upjohn, Hardee’s and Schlitz Malt Liquor accounts as well as New Business.

Early in Beth’s career a client responded to some of her fresh thinking by saying, ‘Beth, the last thing I want to do is provoke thinking.’ Since that day, she’s never stopped provoking.

Besides advertising, Beth has also written for Off-Broadway, comedy and even a considered script for Seinfeld. She also has a short story about to be published in a collected essay book about ‘Mothers and daughters and their Shopping experiences.”

Beth lives in Manhattan with her husband David, a brilliant composer and their 4 year old Goldendoodle Dixe. Also brilliant.

Ever since Blaez Dolan managed to escape Lupinia—the planet of his birth—he has pretty much done whatever he wanted to. See, Blaez is a werewolf and there aren’t many who can stand against him. Well, not and live to talk about it anyway. So, after he “takes care” of the bounty hunter sent against him, he refuels his ship and puts this little dirtwater planet behind him. When he hits a bit of turbulence, he is shocked to find a stowaway aboard. No one would ever choose to travel with him.

Rozenn Quinlan finally managed to escape from the convent of Galbrath and has managed to get to this planet by stowing away on various ships. She didn’t realize the ship she managed to hide on this time belonged to a werewolf. Even so, it doesn’t daunt her. After life in Galbrath, not much will anymore.

When the two of them end up stranded on a really weird, dark planet, they do what they have to do to survive. They stay on the ship and Blaez finds his protective instincts brought to the fore when it comes to Rozenn.

Will they be able to leave the planet? Is there redemption to be found for Blaez? Is there a chance for the two of them?

TAILWIND is an exceptional short story full of emotion. Once again, Charlotte Boyett-Compo pulls us in from the first page and doesn’t let go until the very last page. As with most of Charlotte Boyett-Compo’s books, we have a hero forced to endure more than anyone should have to go through. Our heroine as well has not lived an easy life. And we get to watch as the heroine not only tames the hero, but brings acceptance into his life. Even though a short story, it packs a powerful punch.

This is the prequel to Angel Warriors.

Appolion is an angel with a bounty on his head and Cadean is the hunter that must bring him in. Cadean is a bounty hunter who has never failed at doing her job. Appolion is a son and an exiled angel who has no intention of ever returning to the place where he was raised. All of her training goes out the window once she has him tied to a chair. She decides it is time that she has some fun of her own for a change. The question is what will that fun cost her?

This was a very well written and descriptive book. I would have liked for the story to be longer, but the length just made me hungry for the next installment of this delicious story. There is light BDSM but that just sets the mood for a very hot encounter. I thoroughly enjoyed the tone of the story and it flowed very smoothly. This was a very entertaining story.

Hot! Hot! Hot! Call the firefighters, call 911!

“YOUR DESIRES WILL EITHER SET YOU FREE OR CONSUME YOU”

Sherry was an overworked single girl who wanted a relationship, yet didn’t know how to fit it into her lifestyle. She worked day and night; never took time for friends, let alone the long process of finding someone to date. She didn’t feel she had the time to get to know someone and play the courting game. She was a clean-cut, girl next door type and knew nothing at all about the underground darker side of sex.

Until her friend, Beth, shared her experiences with Sherry. Now Sherry was staring at the card, contemplating completing the profile that could relieve some of her stress and set her on the path to a new relationship. Hit send. Done.

“I Command You” stares at Sherry from the email screen. She soon finds herself in a game that takes her mind to the ends of the earth, away from work, home, age, life itself. But will she succeed…will she complete the game…?

I loved this book. There are surprisingly few characters. You get to know Sherry as the author draws you into her emotional turmoil. You only meet Beth through references to conversations. A few co-workers pop in and out through short work related conversations. And her mystery character is finally revealed at the end as Sherry meets this person she has been fantasizing about nearly every minute of the day.

Ms. Ziese expertly writes the sex scenes so that you better have a fan and some ice cold tea sitting nearby. She touches on the fantasies that women have and allows the reader to experience for herself the question of whether she would step out and do the same as Sherry. This is a quick and easy read, read it in a couple of hours. You should run…get this book and take time to enjoy Sherry’s adventures. You won’t regret it!

Oh…I hear the fire trucks coming.
