Loose Id Chloe is having a
terrible day, where everything that can go wrong does, until
she's offered a chance at much-needed money by the
Collector. All she has to do is fetch him an artifact. Easy
enough, right?
Wrong. The totem is with her ex-husband, who didn't appreciate a vase tossed at his head during their last fight. They never did anything halfway, sex or fighting. Drake is a retired magician who can do real magic. But that didn't help him to keep his wife when she tired of all the secrets he kept about the family legacy. When Chloe tries to take off with his totem, Drake realizes that of all the stuff he'd amassed, only one thing ever mattered, and he'd lost it. Striking a deal with Chloe, he agrees to give her his totem in more ways than one if she gives him a weekend to rekindle the current between them. |

in that Chloe and Drake knew where their story wanted to go and had
no problems taking me there. Had I had writer's block, I would have

When his purely financial offer for the artifact is unsuccessful, Kieran plans a simple, mercenary seduction. Cold and meticulous, Kieran has no place in his life for facing the ghosts of his dark past or seeking love in his future. by Emily Veinglory PNR: The premise for the series is very intriguing. How were you approached to join the project? Emily V.: I saw a note on the Loose Id authors list, and I always was a joiner…. PNR: Could you tell us about your contribution to The Collector series; what relic is your book centered on? Were you able to choose or were you told what relic to seek? Emily V.: Everything was done collaboratively. In my case I choose a stone that can show a person their heart’s desire. But sometimes out heart needs us to face up to some very dark things. PNR: How much freedom were you given in developing your installment of the series? Were you given an outline, names, etc. or just the concept to develop? Emily V.: I sure hope it was left wide open, because other than the basic outline of who the Collector was and what he did I just got the bit between my teeth and ran! PNR: What has been your experience collaborating with so many talented authors? Emily V.: It has been a great way to meet up with other writers but I must admit it can get a little confusing at times J A common metaphor I have heard for organizing writers is ‘herding cats’. PNR: If you hit a writer’s block, did you brainstorm with the rest of the authors? Emily V.: I really have my own way to go about things so once I had my deadline I was good. There may well be such a thing as writer’s block but I don’t let myself think so. PNR: What was the biggest challenge you faced working on the series? The most rewarding aspect? Would you do it again? Emily V.: I really can’t think of anything that felt challenging. I would certainly do it again. Writing is pretty much a solitary activity but a shared world is the next best thing to collaboration… sharing ideas without having to actually let anyone else onto my pages (mine, I tell you. Grrrrr.) PNR: What advice would you give to an author looking at being part of a series like this? Emily V.: Go for it. Loose Id Actress Kate
Susadi and Harvard academic Matt O'Brien are summoned to
the residence of the enigmatic Collector, lured by a
promise of wealth and adventure. Yet when the pair meet
it's loathe at first sight. Matt thinks Kate's a
beautiful ditz with some pretense at smarts: She thinks
he's a patronizing WASPish stuffed shirt (although the
shirt is stuffed with a mighty fine body…)
The Collector sends the pair to Galway, Ireland on a mission to recover a legendary artifact and find his old friend Thomas, Kate's grandfather, missing – presumed dead - for thirty years. On the Galway shore they locate an ancient burial mound which holds the key to finding both man and relic – but when they enter it they get more than they bargain for. Powerful sex magic plunges them through a strange portal into the legendary world of Eirin, a lethal and unforgiving place where gods and heroes walk the land and magic abounds. Somewhere here lies the Cauldron of Fire, the relic they must find to get them home – but there're plenty of people who have a vested interest in keeping it just where it is. Kate and Matt's own squabbling and bickering doesn't help their cause – until they begin to see the real person within the other. |

by A.J. Matthews A native of Norfolk, England, A J (45) attended a school in a villageright on the North Sea coast before moving on to further studies at college and university. After an early career in the leisure/tourism industry, he worked in the Inland Revenue and local government, before starting his own courier business. His hobbies include history and archaeology, science and technology, and home-brewing root beer. On occasion he gets the urge to dress as a fighting Highlander together with like-minded others to re-enact the French-Indian Wars of the 1750's-60's. He has traveled in Britain, the USA, Canada, Hungary and France. He lives within a stone's throw of the beach with his two adorable dogs, Ellie and Suzy. PNR: The premise for the series is very intriguing. How were you approached to join the project? A.J. Matthews: Kai Anderson came up with the idea for a collaborative series and sent out a general message on the Loose Id authors' loop for anyone interested in joining her. The concept sounded so intriguing I couldn't resist, so I leapt at the chance! I'm really glad I did, it's been an exuberant roller-coaster ride and one I wouldn't have missed for the world. PNR: Could you tell us about your contribution to The Collector series; what relic is your book centered on? Were you able to choose or were you told what relic to seek? A.J. Matthews: My book in the series is titled The Collector 3: Cauldron. The story is centered on and around the Cauldron of Fire, a magical artifact belonging to the legendary Queen Maeve of ancient Ireland. Every author has the freedom to choose the nature of their relic providing it has powers to affect the human emotions - mostly love and lust! PNR: How much freedom were you given in developing your installment of the series? Were you given an outline, names, etc. or just the concept to develop? A.J. Matthews: We devised the overall story arc between us, a process that we took time and care over in order to get common fixed reference points just right. The only names common to all our books are The Collector, Andrew Bryden Martin and his able assistant Audra Phelan. PNR: What has been your experience collaborating with so many talented authors? A.J. Matthews: It's been an incredible, very rewarding experience working with so many creative, lively minds! The support we give each other through some of the occasionally trying times that crop up is worth its weight in gold. The concepts the others have come up with have been so original, and so intriguing! Special mention must be made of the artist Christine M. Griffin, who has created the wonderful sexy artwork that graces the covers of the series! PNR: If you hit a writer's block, did you brainstorm with the rest of the authors? A.J. Matthews: Thankfully I didn't hit a block worth the name, but the others were always there if I had a query about a particular point or story idea. Turning our collective brain power onto any problems soon solved them. That's another advantage of being in a team - help is there when you holler! PNR: What was the biggest challenge you faced working on the series? The most rewarding aspect? Would you do it again? A.J. Matthews: The biggest challenge was getting the canon of the story arc just right - and remembering to stick to it! The most rewarding was seeing our team pick up ideas and run with them to the most unexpected and wonderful places. If given the opportunity to do the whole thing over again I certainly would do it again - and maybe we will... PNR: What advice would you give to an author looking at being part of a series like this? A.J. Matthews: Put your name forward early, and don't be afraid to raise any ideas you may have. PNR: Thank you for giving us a peek at this exciting series, where can readers find out about your work? A.J. Matthews: Thank you! It's been a pleasure. PNR: If you hit a writer's
block, did you brainstorm with the rest of the authors?
The most
rewarding part for me has been being associated with this group of
authors. I love being able to say I'm part of a series which
includes these people! Also, I loved being able to write a
nail-biting adventure/romance that not only stands on its own as a
book, but serves as a building block in what I think is a unique
series. |

by Jeanne Barrack
My love of
romance novels started when I read the galley proofs for a steamy
Rosemary Rogers novel. For a brief delirious time, my hubby and I
owned a children's book store in Minneapolis and at our first
American Booksellers convention we gobbled up any freebies we got,
including stuff we'd never sell, like Rogers' book. What a sexy
thrill it was - warts and all! It was the beginning of a love affair
that has never ended. PNR: The premise for the series is very intriguing. How were you approached to join the project? Jeanne B.: Kai Andersen put out an open call to Loose Id Authors to see if anyone would be interested in participating in a multi-author series. I jumped at the chance to be involved with something so unique. PNR: Could you tell us about your contribution to The Collector series; what relic is your book centered on? Were you able to choose or were you told what relic to seek? Jeanne B.: We were all involved in the premise and story line. My book is centered on a Crystal perfume Flacon owned by Lucrezia Borgia. It contained a magical aphrodisiac but it was actually the flacon that was the important element. We were given free rein for our portion of the love totem. PNR: How much freedom were you given in developing your installment of the series? Were you given an outline, names, etc. or just the concept to develop? Jeanne B.: We were given total freedom as long as our information about the Collector and Phelan was consistent with the other stories. This flexibility is one of the best things about the series because the stories -- especially the first five books -- are true standalones. It also allowed us to write love stories that showcased our individual talents and we were able to take the reader on a trip around the world! PNR: What has been your experience collaborating with so many talented authors? Jeanne B.: Fantastic! We each brought so much to the mix. It was great to talk about our stories with each other. PNR: If you hit a writer’s block, did you brainstorm with the rest of the authors? Jeanne B.: I never got writer's block while writing this story. What we brainstormed on was the conception of the Collector, Phelan and the love totem PNR: What was the biggest challenge you faced working on the series? The most rewarding aspect? Would you do it again? Jeanne B.: Keeping the information about the Collector, Phelan and their quest consistent. Working with some of the most talented authors was so rewarding. I'd do it again in a heartbeat. PNR: What advice would you give to an author looking at being part of a series like this? Jeanne B.: Make sure you're comfortable working with a lot of input from other authors. Make sure you truly like the idea of the story. PNR: Thank you for giving us a peek at this exciting series, where can readers find out about your work? by Kai Anderson I grew up in a very ordinary family, with two younger brothers and parents who hold boring jobs. I am single and live in a small flat near the sea. I have been writing stories in my head since I was young, but it was only in 2003 that I sat down before my laptop and completed several manuscripts. These days, writing is my stress-buster from the heavy pressure of the SDJ. Oh yes, I'm also still looking for Prince Charming, if anyone's interested. LOLPNR: Could you tell us about your contribution to The Collector series; what relic is your book centered on? Were you able to choose or were you told what relic to seek? Kai A.: My story is entitled "Love Cure", and it chronicles the journey of a woman and her vampire lover as they retrieve the healing statuette. Nicholas had left seven years ago without a word of goodbye, and hurt by his betrayal, Marianne didn't want to go on the mission with him, but she was given no choice by the Collector. She was even more disconcerted to realize that her desire and love for Nicholas now warred with her sense of betrayal, creating lots of angst-ridden conflicts between the two of them. But that wasn't the worst of her problems. Intrigued? Read "Love Cure", coming soon from Loose Id! http://www.loose-id.net/detail.aspx?ID=446 I thought for a long time what relic I would be focusing on, before finally deciding on that of a fertility goddess with powers to heal. Actually, the relic jumped out from the story, so you could say it was thrust upon me. J PNR: How much freedom were you given in developing your installment of the series? Were you given an outline, names, etc. or just the concept to develop? Kai A.: A lot of freedom! We did have a central theme-that of the totem and how it came to break up into several pieces, and the background of the Collector. Aside from that, we had the freedom to create and develop whatever story we can imagine. And so, what we have is a wonderful collection of stories across different genres as diverse and myriad as there are authors in this series. PNR: What has been your experience collaborating with so many talented authors? Kai A.: What was fun about this collaboration was that we all have a part in its making. Each of us contributed to the shaping of the series-we argued on the central theme, voted on the Collector's name, developed the background of the totem, etc. You wouldn't believe the number of emails nine of us were able to generate on the list! I don't think I could've come up with such a magnificent idea if it were not for this collaboration. This series is more than a year in the making and we're very happy and proud that it has come to fruition at last. PNR: What was the biggest challenge you faced working on the series? The most rewarding aspect? Would you do it again? Kai A.: The biggest challenge was in making sure the facts of our stories corroborate with one another. I'd had to email the group stating that my character said this or that the Collector was in this place at this time, and would that conflict with anyone's story? Most of the time, we were able to iron things out through much communication/email. Now you know why we were able to rack up thousands of emails at the list, with just nine of us! PNR: Thank you for giving us a peek at this exciting series, where can readers find out about your work? http://www.kai-andersen.com or join my low volume email at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/sensual_indulgence/ |

by Laura Baumbach
Laura Baumbach is the author of fan fiction,
screenplays and numerous short stories, novellas, and novels. Her
favorite genre to work in is manlove or m/m erotic romances. Manlove
is not traditional gay fiction, but erotic romances written
specifically for the romantic-minded reader, male or female.
Laura B.: Biggest challenge was
getting an idea n my head for something but not being able to go
that direction because it conflicted with prior books. I write
fairly detailed synopsis for all my works but the story rarely stays
completely on track. Doing this I had to stay in the underlying plot
perimeters. So I worked it out. That's what writing growth is all
about. |
