A KISS OF SHADOWS

by Laurell K. Hamilton

Jacket Copy: My name is Meredith Gentry, but of course it's not my real name. I dare not even whisper my true name after dark for fear that one hushed word will travel over the night winds to the soft ear of my aunt, the Queen of the Air and Darkness. She wants me dead. I don't even know why.

I fled the high court of the Faerie three years ago, and have been hiding ever since. I ran as far as the land would take me, stopping only by the shore of the Pacific Ocean and the fact that if I'd used my passport the Bureau of Human and Fey Affairs would have been notified, and they would have told my relatives. And my relatives would have killed me. As Merry Gentry, I am a private investigator for the Grey detective agency: Supernatural Problems and Magical Solutions. My magical skill, which are scorned at the courts of Faerie, are valued in the human world. Even by human standards, my magic is not flashy. Fine by me: Flash attracts too much attention, and I can't afford that, sightings of Princess Meredith are more popular than Elvis sightings.

Romor has it that I'm dead. Not quite. I am Princess Meredith NicEssus and if you read that name after dark, you will call down a knock upon your door from a hand that will kill you with a touch. I have been so careful, but not careful enough. The shadows have found me, and they are going to take me back home, one way or another.

The running is over. The fighting has just begun...

Maggie has found the man of her dreams-Nick Goodman. He is smart and sexy, and she knows he loves her. Maggie's only problem is . . . well, she isn't entirely human. But Maggie is determined, and through the power of love she is given a chance-and a lithe woman's body. She has one week to convince Nicholas to admit that he loves her. THE STAR KING

by Susan Grant

Jacket copy:
Careening out of control in her fighter jet is only the start of the wildest ride of Jasmine's life; spinning wildly in an airplane is nothing like the loss of equilibrium she feels when she lands. There, in a half-dream, Jas sees a man more powerfully compelling than any she's ever encountered.

Though his words are foreign, his touch is familiar, baffling her mind even as he touches her soul. But who is he? Is he, too, a downed pilot? Is that why he lies in the desert sand beneath a starry Arabian sky?

The answers burn in his mysterious golden eyes, in his thoughts that become hers as he holds out his hand and requests her aid. This man has crossed many miles to find her, to offer her a heaven that she might otherwise never know, and love is only one of the many gifts of . . . The Star King.

OBSIDIAN BUTTERFLY

by Laurell K. Hamilton

Jacket copy: Something Anita will have to face alone...

Whenever the phone rings before dawn something big is probably up, and the fact that Anita Blake has been up all night dealing with zombies doesn't make this call an exception.

"Ted Forrester needs back-up from Anita Blake, vampire executioner", Edward tells her, using the pseudonym he keeps for those rare times when he needs a legal identity. And she owes him a favor. So by noon she's on a plane to Santa Fe, sun-drenched town of wealthy retirees, where in the last two weeks twelve people have been murdered.

The dead ones had it easy; the other victims have been completely flayed, but kept horribly alive by magic. Seeing them in the hospital, Anita feels uncharacteristically shaken.

Edward's "Ted Forrester" identity has her nearly as spooked as the
crimes: He's working with the local police, courting a likable widow
with two kids, and generally making like a good ol' boy. Anita knows the real nature he's hiding beneath his mask of normality-and she finds Ted perhaps more frightening than Edward.

But she must put aside her fear to help Edward hunt down the greatest evil she has ever encountered. It is ancient and devious-and in the end, she will have to face it alone...

JULIE KENNER

Writing romance is truly a dream come true. Julie has always loved stories - reading them, watching them on television and the silver screen, and making them up myself. And her stories always ... always ... had a happy ending.

In addition to writing, Julie a full-time attorney. Right now, she practices general business litigation.

Throughout the depositions, interrogatories, subpoenas and briefs, writing has always been her touchstone. "I can't remember a time when I haven't at least been scribbling notes for some story that was running through my head. When I wasn’t writing, teaching (or moving!) odds were you could catch me curled up on the couch watching a romantic comedy on video or soaking up a romance novel. Not too long after getting married (a coincidence perhaps?), I turned my attention to writing romances, finally realizing that I should be writing the type of stories I love so much. "

She sold her first novel to Harlequin Temptation in June of 1999, and has since made a total of thirteen sales to Harlequin and Dorchester! "I love writing steamy, sexy stories for Harlequin and lighter paranormal romps for Dorchester. I hope you enjoy!"
