Publisher Spotlight: Mardi Gras Publishing

Mardi Gras Publishing, LLC

Publishing will never be the same

We are talking with Teresa Jacobs, publisher for the new ePublisher, Mardi Gras Publishing.

PNR: Mardi Gras Publishing is creating a buzz amongst readers and authors, could you tell us about your vision for the company?

Teresa J.: BIG DREAMS, with a skilled staff to assist me in fulfilling them. I am very pleased with the warm welcome we have received thus far in the publishing community. We’ve been inundated with submissions and our opening sales have been impressive.

PNR: You are a newly published author as writing team Teresa Wayne. Could you tell us why you decided to establish your own ePublishing company?

Teresa J.: In our short beginnings as an author team, we have learned a tremendous amount of what NOT to do in this business, thus motivating our decision to get it done right.

PNR: What do you feel Mardi Gras Publishing has to offer authors and readers that is not currently available from existing ePublshers?

Teresa J.: Most of the ePublishers offer the same opportunities as we do; we just offer a more hands on approach I feel to the publishing process. Our MGP authors can find myself or my EIC on line 24-7, as well as our personal phone calls when issues arise. The authors love a personal hello, and how are you!

PNR: Mardi Gras Publishing has an impressive line up of authors to kick off your opening; which talented authors can we expect to see publishing at Mardi Gras Publishing in the future?

Teresa J.: The future of MGP looks bright! Along with our wonderful opening authors, we have Annmarie Ortega, CJ England, Mari LaCroix, Jennifer Cloud, Audrey Godwin, Dee Erotique, Sabrina Luna, Skylar Sinclair, and our 2003 YA Horror Eppie winner, Steven Lee Climer, Mainstream Urban Gay author Timothy D. Kelley, and the list goes on. I believe we are well over 30 authors now.

PNR: Until recently erotic romance was offered primarily through electronic publishers; how do you feel the decision of the big print publishing companies to offer erotic lines will affect the ePublishing business?

Teresa J.: I believe this is a positive effect. Readers, who otherwise purchase with the large publishers, will find new faces and stories to indulge in.

PNR: What can ePublishing offer an author that print can not?

Teresa J.: Electronic publishing has allowed many authors to be recognized that may not have otherwise. It also allows the writers to express themselves without the pressure of word counts.

PNR: Mardi Gras Publishing will be offering a range of romance genres at varying sensuality levels; can you give us an overview of your rating system?

Teresa J.: We have Mainstream Fiction – YA Fiction – Anime - Bourbon Street Romance (closed door romance) – Satin Rouge (erotic line) and our VooDoo Moon (VERY dark horror line w/wo erotic elements).

Our Satin Rouge is broken down into a Cajun rating:

Spicy Mild – Sexual content using full descriptive terms.

Just Right – Sexual Content, same as above, but leaving very little to the imagination.

Cajun HOT! – All of the above, which may include BDSM, bondage, etc.

PNR: Mardi Gras Publishing will be offering several different lines including young adult, mainstream, French Quarter romance, Anime, Satin Rouge, and VooDoo Moon. Can you tell readers what we can expect to see from these lines?

Teresa J.: As I have mentioned before, all of our lines are opening with some awesome talent. From our Mainstream to our VooDoo Moon. I, myself am partial to the VooDoo Moon line, as it is my baby. This line was my development after many excruciating hours spent chopping on my first book in edits to develop – what they consider acceptable erotic, in the industry.

PNR: The paranormal romance genre is very popular at the moment. What do you feel accounts for the sudden interest in all things paranormal?

Teresa J.: People love what they cannot see or explain!

PNR: What can readers expect to see in the coming months?  What paranormal romance offerings can we look forward to?

Teresa J.: MANY! Below are our paranormal releases through September 16.

Sabrina Luna releases our first in the MGP Scaremare feature with VooDoo Moon, called “Crimson Ambrosia” August 19

Savannah Black releases a first in a Vamp series in his Followers of Cain series, called “Vixen of the Night” August 19

Teresa J.: ALL books 50K and up will go to print beginning this Fall! Keep your eyes open for some very happy authors J

PNR: Thank you, Teresa, for taking time out to talk with us about Mardi Gras Publishing, LLC. Where can readers find out more about your upcoming releases?

We look forward to a long, fulfilling relationship with PNR.
